Details

On October 9, 2020, Blue Capital Management Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Minato-ku, Tokyo) was registered as a regular member of RSPO.

We decided to join RSPO, with the aim of solving the recent problems of overexploitation of tropical rainforests and labor in palm oil production sites and contributing to sustainable production of palm oil.
In addition, we are preparing for obtaining certification about palm kernel shells (PKS) we handle.

We will further improve our capabilities of supplying PKS stably and managing its quality to meet needs for fuel for renewable energy and pursue the ethos and activities of RSPO to contribute to the actualization of a sustainable society.

*Regarding RSPO
It stands for the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil.
It is an international non-profit organization for promoting the sustainable production and use of palm oil and was established in 2004 by World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) and enterprises related to palm oil.

This time, our company signed an M&A contract for acquiring 95.0% of shares of Perima Energy Resources Sdn Bhd. (headquartered in Malaysia; hereinafter referred to as “PER”), which collects palm kernel shells (hereinafter referred to as “PKS”) and sells PKS. Then, Hideo Harada, who represents our company, was appointed as chairman of PER on January 7, 2020.
　
We concluded this M&A contract, because PER can secure 500,000 MT of the PKS fuel per year in western Malaysia.
Since our company has already signed a contract with Blossom Bio Energy Sdn. Bhd. in Malaysia for receiving the supply of 600,000 MT (up to 750,000 MT) of the PKS fuel per year for as long as 20 years, as announced on December 5, 2019, our company will be able to secure a total of 1,100,000 MT of the PKS fuel per year.

BCM SG. Private Limited (Singapore), one of our group companies, will conduct the general operation and management of the above two companies, to stably supply the fuel to Japan. It will comprehensively support our biomass power generation business, which is under development, in Handa-shi, Aichi Prefecture, Hamamatsu-shi, Shizuoka Prefecture, and Shiraoi-cho, Hokkaido, in processes ranging from the stable supply of fuel to power generation.

Going forward, we will continue to put our efforts toward the Renewable Energy Business, thus contributing to the creation of a recycling-based society while reducing environmental burden on society.
